Lourdes Medical Center is the ONE OF THE ONLY hospitals offering the MAKOplasty® procedure in Eastern Washington. MAKOplasty® is an innovative new treatment option for people with early to mid-stage osteoarthritis of the knee.
MAKOplasty® Partial Knee Resurfacing is an innovative treatment option for adults living with early to midstage Osteoarthritis in the inner, top, or outer compartments of the knee. During the procedure, the diseased portion of the knee is resurfaced, sparing the patient’s healthy bone and surrounding tissue. An implant is then secured in the joint to allow the knee to move smoothly again.
MAKOplasty® Partial Knee Resurfacing can help you have that same feeling again! Powered by robotic arm technology, the potential benefits of this minimally invasive procedure over total knee replacement include:
• Enabling surgeons to precisely resurface only the arthritic portion of the knee.
• Preserving healthy tissue and bone.
• Facilitating optimal implant positioning to result in a more natural feeling knee following surgery.
• Helping you recover more rapidly and have a shorter hospital stay than traditional knee replacement surgery.
• Allowing your surgeon to perform the surgery on an outpatient basis (in some cases) based on the right course of treatment for you.
