Total healing is threefold – body, mind and spirit
Lourdes Health Network believes healing is more than just physical. Your body, mind and spirit work together, and our associates strive to meet your spiritual, physical, and mental needs. Our chaplains are here to assist you and your family in coping with the experience of being in the hospital and dealing with illness.

As spiritual care is all-encompassing, so is a chaplain’s role and function. Chaplains offer you:
1. Comforting and supportive presence
2. Compassionate and attentive listening
3. Affirmation of your person and life as a sacred gift
4. Prayer and encouragement
5. Companioning and guidance in the face of spiritual and emotional pain, or suffering, or death and dying situations
6. With your consent, to call your own priest, pastor or spiritual caregiver

When you are in the hospital and would like to speak to a chaplain, dial 0 and ask operator to page a chaplain or ask any of the staff to contact one for you.

Who are Chaplains?
Chaplains are ordained or non-ordained women and men who are well trained in hospital chaplaincy. Chaplains are at Lourdes Medical Center daily and at Lourdes Counseling Center weekly. Chaplains are available at any Lourdes location upon request.

Memorial Service
Twice a year a Memorial Service is held to commemorate the memory of deceased patients who have been cared for at Lourdes Health Network. Little Angels Memorial Service is also offered for the death of pre-term babies. Bereaved families receive an invitation to participate in these prayer services.

The Chapel
The chapel is located on the lobby level of Lourdes Medical Center. Mass is celebrated in our Chapel several days each week at 11:30 a.m. and is available on Channel 5 in the patient rooms. A monthly schedule is posted outside the chapel door. Inside the chapel is a Book of Intentions for people in need of prayers. The hospital respects patient confidentiality, so please ask permission before you write the patient’s name.

There is also a chapel at Lourdes Counseling Center. The chapel there is open for meditation and prayer to all during normal business hours.
