MEALS / DINING
A nourishing, well-balanced diet is an important part of healing. Lourdes
Medical Center makes every effort to provide nutritious, delicious meals
prepared according to your doctor’s orders. If you have
special dietary needs or would like to speak with a dietician, ask your
nurse to have a dietician visit you. The healing process includes support from family and friends. Our practice is to provide one complimentary guest meal per room in addition to our patient’s meal for their friends or family members. A guest meal may include the following: an entree, starch, vegetable, salad and dessert with a beverage. Your guest tray will be delivered within 30 minutes of placing your order. Please remember, our cafe is very reasonably priced, accepts cash, check and credit cards and offers a variety of meal options, grab and go snacks, salads, desserts and other items from 7:00am - 6:30pm. Patient meals are generally served at the following times:
Breakfast - 7:00 am
Lunch - 11:30 am
Dinner - 5:00 pm

INTERPRETIVE SERVICES
If you, a family member or other guest has special communication needs such as interpreting services, please tell your admitting representative, your nurse or point to your language in the Language Identification Card.
VALUABLES / LOST BELONGINGS
We advise you to leave cash, credit cards and jewelry at home, as Lourdes cannot be responsible for the security of each room. If you cannot do so, please ask your nurse to place your personal belongings in the hospital safe. Eyeglasses, dentures and hearing aids require special care. Ask a nurse for a denture cup and take care not to leave these items on your meal tray or lying on your bed, as they may become damaged or lost. If you misplace personal belongings, check with your nurse or contact Environmental Services by dialing x 2280 or 546-2280 if calling from outside the hospital.
MEDICATIONS
Please bring a current list of medications and dosages you’re taking, but DO NOT bring your medications with you unless requested by hospital staff. For your safety, the hospital pharmacy will provide your medications during your hospital stay. If the hospital’s pharmacy does not stock a specific medication, we may ask you to bring a supply from home until we are able to order it.
PATIENT SATISFACTION
Patient Satisfaction is of utmost importance to Lourdes. If at any time you have feedback, comments, suggestions, praise, opportunities or a simple “thank you,” we encourage you to call LOURDESLINE (our patient comment line) at (509) 546-2256 or visit our Patient Experience page.
Lourdes calls many patients after discharge to see how they are doing. In addition, you may receive a call to assess your level of patient satisfaction. Your answers help us see our services through the patient’s eyes and assist us in making changes to improve our services. When it comes to you recommending Lourdes Medical Center to your friends and family, we strive for a “10” and would like to know if you are not rating us a “10” what we can do to improve our services. Please take the time to provide us with your valuable feedback should you receive a phone call.
RETURNING HOME
Discharge planning is a process that begins from the moment of admission and continues throughout your hospital stay. Lourdes staff will be planning for your discharge from the moment you arrive. When your physician has determined that you have sufficiently recovered, they will write a discharge order. Instructions and information regarding post hospital care will be provided to you. If there are any remaining forms to be signed, you will be directed where you will need to go. The discharge process may take several hours, but it is an important step in your overall care.
When you are ready to leave, a staff member will escort you to the main entrance. Most patients are typically discharged before noon, however, it may take longer depending on your physician. Please keep this in mind when arranging for transportaion from the medical center. If you have special needs, a discharge planner will help you make plans. They can help arrange home care, hospice, short term rehabilitation, long term care, assisted living, retirement homes and more. Some things to remember before your discharge:
• Gather all belongings from the closet and drawers. If you have valuables in the medical center safe, you will be assisted in getting them.
• Review your discharge plan with your nurse. Plans will address discharge prescriptions, follow-up appointments, home assistance and other special arrangements. Make arrangements for transportation.
• Have you discussed any problems or concerns with your nurse/doctor?
• Have you received prescriptions from your physician and do you understand the instructions concerning medications to be followed at home?
• Do you have any questions or instructions on your diet at home? |
